I’m With Stupid

I’m With Stupid

By: Elaine Szewczyk

Synopsis:A hilarious tale of girl meets boy, girl falls in lust, girl discovers boy is not playing with a full deck…

When Kas meets William while on safari in South Africa he seems perfect-a gorgeous park ranger, both kind and brave (he saved the tour from certain death by water buffalo). Her two best friends, Max, an endlessly scheming personal trainer, and Libby, a jobless bombshell, would like to get their hands on William…but he’s only interested in Kas, an editorial assistant at a struggling New York literary agency who thinks William is out of her league. The two have a fling, and Kas returns home to New York wondering if she’ll hear from William again. So when he finally sends an email, she’s delighted.

Until she opens it.

The email is not quite the love missive Kas expected. Did she misjudge William? A miscommunication ensues, triggering a rapid-fire series of comic developments that, within days, bring William to New York, now under the impression that Kas has offered him a place to live. As he unveils his big plan to take Manhattan by storm and make his fortune, Kas finally recognizes how limited William’s intellectual capabilities are: He makes Kevin Federline look like Albert Einstein.

Readers are along for the outrageous ride as Kas copes with her new roommate’s eccentricities, including a preoccupation with the Psychic Friends Network and a passion for collecting Big Apple-themed souvenirs, and the realization that her dream man is a comic nightmare.

This book is a super-fun must read! It’s unique spin on a one night stand makes for a hilarious chick lit book! All the characters are charming and quirky and feel like real people. The funniest part of this book is the silly ways Kas’ friend Max gets revenge on Kas’ ex-boyfriend. You will laugh out loud while reading this book!

A Total Waste of Makeup

A Total Waste of Makeup

By: Kim Gruenenfelder

Synopsis: Charlize “Charlie” Edwards certainly knows, in theory, what it takes to lead a successful and happy life. She owns a nice house in Silverlake, LA’s trendiest neighborhood. She has glamorous and loyal friends who accompany her to the hottest clubs in town. And she works as the personal assistant to Drew Stanton, Hollywood’s sexiest movie star. But she’s also turning 30, chronically single, and faced with serving as maid of honor at her younger sister’s wedding. Charlie finds herself struggling to juggle the chaos of wedding planning (while wondering if she’ll ever wear the white dress herself), her all-consuming job for lunatic boss Stanton, and a serious crush on Jordan, a photographer on the set of Drew’s latest feature–a man who might actually return her feelings.

In my opinion this book was a total waste of the $9.99 I spent on it in the Kindle store. It started off very slowly, with a typical 30 something character who argues with her parents and is jealous of her younger sister who is getting married. She spends most of the book drinking, smoking, obsessing over stupid men and making fun of everything. There really isn’t much of a plot and no action at all. For the most part all the characters are shallow, petty and one dimensional. I finally had enough half way through and tossed it aside! Save your money and skip this book!
